LDF SCIENTIFIC ADVISORS (Current and Past)

The Lyme Disease Foundation (LDF) recognizes finding solutions to Lyme disease and other tick-borne disorders requires careful, balanced evaluation of various input from numerous researchers and healthcare professionals. Each scientific advisor brings to the LDF a unique perspective of the diseases - from the highest level of laboratory research to the frontlines of patient management. Acknowledging and debating differing scientifically supportable viewpoints and approaches to problems enrich the LDF's effort to find solutions.

Since its inception, the LDF has relied on the extensive expertise of over 100 Scientific Advisors. These advisors interpret research, advise on research design, and help plan educational activities. They also ensure the accuracy of all LDF educational material, which includes reviewing submissions for the LDF's Journal of Spirochetal and Tick-Borne Diseases. Scientific advisers also assist self-help group operations, participate in LDF conferences, submit articles to the JSTD, work to improve patient medical care, and help design & implement disease prevention strategies.

Advisors are not required to agree with one another or with all LDF activities. Conversely, the LDF does not adopt all of the views of its many advisors. Over the years the following people have provided the LDF with expertise in one or more advisory capacities. Some members are now retired and some are still active.
